The two main Tenebris Somnia endings depend on whether you kill a Relicta with the Aurifer. Save before your first ghost kill so you can reload for the other route. For the Bible route, you need both main endings first; RENUNTIATIO instead uses the apartment keys at the building entrance.

Choose your route before entering Séptimo Arte

EndingAchievement nameBranch to use
Ending #1SOLVE ET COAGULAAurifer: spare the Relicta.
Ending #2MAGNUM OPUSAurifer: kill a Relicta.
Ending #3VIVUS EX MORTIBUSNew game: Bible and inverted crosses.
Ending #4RENUNTIATIONew game: keys at the entrance.

Use the achievement names to distinguish the Tenebris Somnia endings when checking your completed outcomes. The first pair share the Aurifer decision point, while the Bible route asks you to revisit puzzles with a different item. Leaving through the entrance is an opening action, not a final dialogue selection.

Preserve the knife decision

Obtain the Aurifer before choosing either main route. Keep a save before using it to kill a Relicta: that is the branch you need for collecting both main Tenebris Somnia endings without replaying from the beginning. A save made after the kill cannot serve as your no-kill starting point.

Use separate continuing saves for the two outcomes rather than overwriting that branch. Finish one route, reload the untouched save, and take the opposite approach to the ghosts. The useful distinction is what you do with the Aurifer, not simply whether the weapon is in your inventory.

To reach the ending street, return to the third floor and use the apartment door with water leaking underneath it. That door leads to the street outside Séptimo Arte. Treat the street as part of the approach: your chosen ghost-kill condition still matters while you are making your way to the finale.

SOLVE ET COAGULA: leave the Relicta alive

For Ending #1, leave every Relicta alive after obtaining the Aurifer and continue to Séptimo Arte. Carrying the weapon does not require you to attack. You need to get past the ghosts without killing them, even when removing one would make your return journey easier.

For this branch of the Tenebris Somnia endings, “almost no kills” is not the target. If you kill a Relicta with the Aurifer, reload the save from before that action rather than continuing with the remaining ghosts untouched. Sparing the rest does not undo the kill that selected the other route.

MAGNUM OPUS: use the Aurifer against a ghost

For Ending #2, kill at least one Relicta with the Aurifer, then continue to Séptimo Arte. One kill is enough for the branch; you do not need to hunt down every ghost to obtain MAGNUM OPUS.

This matters if you are collecting Tenebris Somnia endings alongside achievements. Heart of Lead requires all Relicta ghosts, a larger task than selecting the kill-based ending. Do not mistake the ending achievement for confirmation that your ghost cleanup is complete, or spend time clearing every floor when the ending itself is your only target.

VIVUS EX MORTIBUS: collect the inverted crosses

Complete Ending #1 and Ending #2, then start a new game and collect the Bible from the starting table. The Bible is your alternate-puzzle item. For this route through the Tenebris Somnia endings, use it at the following puzzle locations instead of proceeding directly with their ordinary solutions.

  1. Second-floor apartment television: use the Bible at the static television before solving the TV puzzle normally. Watch the alternate cinematic clue and follow its instructions to obtain a red inverted cross. Use the clue shown in that sequence rather than your remembered solution from the main route.
  2. Community Center combination puzzle: at the place where you watch the film reels, use the Bible instead of entering the normal combination. Follow the combination shown by the alternate cinematic and collect its cross. Returning to the room is only the approach; the Bible interaction is what changes the puzzle.
  3. Floor 0 camera/TV room: use the Bible inside the room, connect the yellow cable, and change channels for the alternate encounter and cross. This stop uses the camera/television setup, not the second-floor television you visited earlier.

Bring the three red inverted crosses to the wall outside Séptimo Arte. Place them there, then enter the door for the third ending route. The crosses connect those separate puzzle visits to the street: collecting them is preparation for the wall interaction, not a substitute for it.

RENUNTIATIO: turn around at the beginning

Start a new game, turn around, and use the apartment keys on the building entrance to leave. Open your inventory and use the keys at that entrance rather than heading into the apartment investigation.

Keep the opening actions for these Tenebris Somnia endings separate: taking the Bible leads into the alternate puzzle route, while using the keys at the building entrance is the exit action. RENUNTIATIO is not the door opened by placing the red crosses outside Séptimo Arte.
